General Details
Four Gables bed and breakfast is ideally located a very short walk from the centre of Boston Spa, near Wetherby in West Yorkshire.
The accommodation is an ideal place to stay for visits to York, Leeds, Harrogate, the Yorkshire Dales and North Yorkshire Moors.
A very unusual house built around 1900, Four Gables has a wealth of character and a quiet, peaceful location.
Owners David and Anne Watts welcome guests to their unique 'Arts and crafts style' home, with its oak and terracotta floors, original fireplaces and gorgeous moulded ceilings.
The beautiful gardens, extending to over half an acre, include an interesting collection of plants and trees and a well-tended croquet lawn.
An attractive and spacious lounge is available for residents' use.
Four Gables is recommended by the Which? Guide Book and has a Tourist Board Rating of 5 Diamonds, with a Silver Award. The house is Listed by English Heritage as a Grade II property.
Accommodation
There are 3 bedrooms on the first floor of the house.
Period furniture, original artwork and loving attention to detail make each of the rooms individual.
All bedrooms have private en-suite facilities [with shower, toilet and wash basin].
They also feature a colour television [some with video], plus tea and coffee making facilities.
Additional accommodation is available in the Garden Cottage behind the main house.
This charming converted outbuilding includes a double bedroom, a lounge with colour television and video, a dining area and kitchenette [with microwave, fridge and sink], and a bathroom with shower.
Food and Drink
Breakfast at Four Gables is a real treat - the generous continental breakfast includes fruit from David's garden [in season] and Anne's homemade jams, marmalade, lemon curd and tea breads.
Cooked breakfasts can be traditional English, using free-range eggs and the best bacon and sausage from the local butcher, or there are gourmet choices such as scrambled eggs with Scottish smoked salmon.
Vegetarian options are also available - please advise David and Anne when booking accommodation.
In addition to the riverside walks and Georgian architecture for which it is famous, Boston Spa also offers a number of good quality restaurants and shops.
Location
Four Gables is tucked away down a private lane, yet it is only a 5 minute walk from the bustling village of Boston Spa. The location makes an ideal stopping off place when en route between Scotland and London, 1 mile east of the A1 road.
Full directions are provided on the Four Gables web site [link at top of this page] and there is ample parking for guests at the house.
