Leisure
Nottingham, Beeston, Sawley and Long Eaton were built on the canal network that was once used to transport goods and raw materials across England. Today the canal is frequented only by pleasure craft and fishermen, but Beeston Marina still has a friendly cafe, pub and boat/angling supplies shop.
Only a short walk from Grove Guest House, the Marina is a pleasant place for a refreshing drink in the sunshine, or an ideal spot from which to enjoy the sunset over the adjacent Attenborough Nature Reserve.
Perhaps better-known places to visit nearby include Nottingham Castle, the University of Nottingham, the famous Boots Company's Main 'Home' Complex, Nottingham Tennis Centre, or Wollaton Hall.
Day trip possibilities include one of the many regular events at Donington Race Circuit, Robin Hood's Sherwood Forest Visitor Centre, Clumber Park, the Derbyshire Dales or Leicestershire.
