General Details
A Grade II Listed property, this farmhouse was built from local sandstone in 1709 and has been beautifully restored, retaining many original features.
Oak-beamed ceilings, stone and timbered walls, and cosy inglenook fireplaces are features of the internal accommodation.
The house has private landscaped gardens of half an acre, surrounded by a further six acres of countryside located on the edge of the famous Derbyshire Dales and Peak District National Park.
The English Tourism Council has awarded the house and facilities with a
5 Star Self Catering grading.
The accommodation is furnished and decorated to a high standard throughout and up to 14 people can stay here in comfort.
Access is via a gated private drive and the grounds are well-lit at night. The drive is circular, providing ample parking for vehicles.
Accommodation
The cottage has five bedrooms, all with old pine furniture. On the first floor, Bedroom 1 is twin bedded and Bedroom 2 has a double bed and en-suite facilities.
The other three bedrooms are on the second floor. Bedrooms 3 and 4 each have one double bed and one single bed. Bedroom 5 completes the main accommodation, with one double bed and two single beds.
There are two travel cots in the property.
The luxurious master bathroom is located on the first floor and features a separate walk-in power shower.
The Victorian bathroom suite has a free standing roll-topped bath with shower over, and a bidet.
On the ground floor there is a lounge with three and two seater settees, television, video, and a stereo hi-fi unit.
An open fireplace with wood burning stove is another feature of the lounge.
The dining room is complete with old pine furniture and also has an open fireplace, with wood burning stove.
The kitchen is fitted with hand-made pine units and a French pottery double sink with a granite double drainer. The floor is Terracotta and benefits from underfloor heating. The cooker is electric, with halogen rings, double oven and grill.

Two bedrooms now have LCD TVs and Hillside Croft also has a fully-equipped barbecue and patio furniture outside, and a payphone.
Food and Drink
There is a local store half a mile away, whilst the main shops are five miles away in Ashbourne and Belper.
The area has many public houses, most serving restaurant or bar meals, and in Ashbourne there is a good range of restaurants and take-away food outlets.

Hillside Croft is five miles to the east of Ashbourne, in the Derbyshire Dales on the south eastern edge of the Peak District National Park. The cottage is one mile from the leisure facilities at Carsington Water.

Located about half-way between Alton Towers and The American Adventure theme parks, this is an ideal base for a family holiday or for a group wanting to explore the walking opportunities of this area.
Younger children will love Riber Castle and Zoo, Gulliver's Kingdom, Crich Tramway Museum and the Midland Steam Railway.
Beautiful National Trust properties in the region include Chatsworth House, Calke Abbey and Kedleston Hall.
This is an excellent area for outdoor activities, with easy walking in the spectacular dales along picturesque river banks - a short distance north, is the beautiful walking countryside of Dovedale.
Opportunity for exploration over tougher terrain is also abundant, with open moorland and cliffs providing access to stunning panoramic views. Also available nearby are hill walking, rock climbing, mountain biking, gliding, golfing and watersports.
