"I have often stayed at Travelodge while traveling the country with my family but lured by the recent press regarding Premier Inn, we took the plunge and stayed at the Premier Inn in Halifax, mainly due to its poximity to Eureka.
The location was divine! Right beside the canal and we had the right day to appreciate it! The sun was shining and it really wowed everyone. The first thing the children spotted was the outside playpark attached to the onsite restaurant and it took alot to persuade them to check-in first before they could tire themselves out.
The hotel is small and actually has rooms that are in a motel style layout. Really adds to the character of the place.
Check-in went smoothly and I must say the desk lady was a real sweetheart. Nothing was too much trouble. She impressed the children with little rucksack bags of colouring bits, so much so they started colouring right there in reception.
The room was huge, clean and practical for our 2 night stay with 2 children. They kids had little pull out beds which they loved and as for our king size bed, i didn't want to get out of it.
We had our evening meal on the first night at The Watermill Brewers Fayre that was located onsite. Again, everything was great. I was very impressed with the selection for the children and the staff we again very accomodating by providing yet another colouring pack to keep them amused. I chose the Fish and Chips which were nearly as good as from our local chippy back home and my husband had the Sausage and Mash in the Yorkshire pudding which was huge (though he managged to finish it). The desserts were a good selection but we didn't order any.
Breakfast on both days was a delight. We opted for the Full Breakfast on both days and found that the two children qualified for a free breakfast each. The staff were very polite and encouraged us to get value for money on the all you want option. Everything was cooked to order and the mushrooms were to very moreish so we ordered more!
One check out the lady behind the desk made sure we had enjoyed our stay and also asked the children if they had had fun which was a personal touch.
Overall, our first impression of this hotel chain was great. At £52 per night we really feel we recieved a great service and deffinatly went above and beyond what we expected. We will be staying in London next month and have already booked with Premier Inn again" Anne Wood, Essex, Visited May 2009
