Bowmore is virtually in the centre of the island and very easy to get to from either ferry port [approximately 10 miles away in either direction].

The Harbour Inn is on the right hand side past The Celtic House if arriving from Port Askaig, or at the very bottom of Main Street, on The Square, if you have travelled from Port Ellen.

The Isle of Islay can be reached by sea [ferry services from Kennacraig on Kintyre, booking required] or air [regular flights from Glasgow Airport].

Whether your interests are with the island's beautiful natural environment, the vast numbers of birds and wildlife or the world's finest malt whiskies, The Harbour Inn is the ideal base from which to explore Islay.

There are many locations of historic interest, dating back to the Iron Age. Other interesting visits may include the Museum of Islay Life, located in the conservation village of Port Charlotte and the Islay Woollen Mill.

Golf can be arranged on the island's 18 hole championship links course at Machrie.
