General Details
The Fernpoint Hotel and Seafood Restaurant is located on the shores of Loch Fyne - a magnificent setting in Argyll, at the gateway to the Western Highlands.
The centre of Inveraray is within walking distance of the hotel.
The hotel gardens and most of the bedrooms have superb views over the picturesque Loch Fyne, and of the hills and mountains that surround the loch.
The original Georgian house was built on grounds that were gifted by the Duke of Argyll in return for assistance during the famous 1745 Jacobite Rebellion.
Today the Fernpoint Hotel is an attractive property, secluded on the water's edge by the loch, and yet only a couple of minutes walk from the main street of Inveraray.
Accommodation
All bedrooms have either private en-suite facilities or a private bath/shower room nearby.
Ground floor rooms, executive suites and rooms with King Size double beds are available.
Features of every bedroom include television, alarm clock, Central heating, and tea or coffee making facilities.
For more details and pictures of the rooms, please see the Fernpoint Hotel website [please click on the 'Website' link above].
Food and Drink
Scottish breakfast is served each morning, cooked to order - and wherever possible fresh locally sourced ingredients are used in the food at the Fernpoint Hotel.
In the evening, the restaurant menu often features prime Scotch beef, and the house speciaility - seafood, freshly caught in the neighbouring sea loch.
The wine list provides a perfect complement to any meal, with a choice of wines [but not so many that it becomes bewildering!] carefully chosen by the hotel owners.
The Fernpoint Hotel is noted for its excellent malt whisky selection. Guests can relax in the bar area with a pre-dinner drink, or perhaps a little later on with a wee dram of Scottish whisky.
The restaurant at Fernpoint is now a member of the Scottish Seafood Trail (www.theseafoodtrail.co.uk).
Location
Inveraray is ideally located for exploring Argyll and, in particular, its many famous waters.
This pretty town is located on the banks of Loch Fyne, with Loch Awe to the north and Loch Lomond and Loch Long to the east.
The A82 and A83 provide the main road access to or from Glasgow and the rest of Scotland. Travellers to the Mull of Kintyre [by road] invariably pass through Inveraray.
Further information about Inveraray, its attractions and the beautiful area surrounding Loch Fyne can be found on the Fernpoint Hotel website [please click on the 'Website' link above].
