General Details
Inchnacardoch Lodge was built in 1878 for use as a hunting lodge by Lord Lovat, of Lovat.
'Inch na cardoch' is Gaelic and means 'Island of the Cherry Tree'.
A man-made island, or crannog, of the same name is the only island on Loch Ness and is located close to the hotel.
In 1953 the Lodge became a hotel and it now welcomes tourists and locals to its spacious rooms and grounds.
Its quiet ambience gives time to relax, rest and savour the sights and sounds of the Highlands, by the side of the roaring log fire.
Accommodation
All bedrooms have a private en-suite toilet and bath/shower room and are equipped to a high standard, with:
- Direct dial telephone
- Colour television and radio
- Hairdryer [on request]
- Tea and coffee making facilities
A variety of accommodation is available, including double, twin and triple, plus a single and a quad bedroom.
Food and Drink
Morning coffee and afternoon tea are served in the newly appointed lounge, with views over Loch Ness to the Monadhliath mountains beyond.
Why not sample a malt whisky or two, from the range of about 50 different varieties, before dining in the elegant restaurant, which overlooks the meadows, forest and Loch Ness.
Dinner is thoughtfully prepared by the chefs, with an emphasis on traditional and local Scottish produce, such as salmon, venison and Scotch beef.
The menu changes daily, and always includes vegetarian dishes.
After dinner the lounge is available for coffee and liqueurs and a view of the setting sun which paints the southern shore of Loch Ness in a special shade of highland red.
