General Details
St Mungo's is a picturesque house in Culross, one of the most attractive villages in central Scotland.
The National Trust has lead an extensive restoration of Culross, which now represents the foremost example of a medieval Scottish township.
At the end of St Mungo's garden, the remains of a chapel are also maintained by The National Trust.
The chapel was built in the middle ages on the site of an older cell which in turn marked the birthplace of St Mungo - the founder and patron saint of Glasgow.
Culross had for some centuries the monopoly right to make the girdle - a flat pan which was the main cooking utensil used in Scotland.
In 1666 a blacksmith, Robert Sands, bought his entrance into the guild of the hammermen of Culross to be part of that monopoly. He built St Mungo's house as part of the forge which he established on the edge of the village.
Accommodation
There are two bedrooms available for guests at St Mungo's Bed and Breakfast.
The main guest room [family or twin bedroom] is the largest, being part of an 18th century extension, and has en-suite facilities with shower.
The second room has a double bed and en-suite facilities..
Both rooms enjoy views over the Firth of Forth and have a colour television, central heating, tea and coffee making facilities.
