The many hotels and restaurants on Skye serve excellent local specialities including freshly caught seafood.
Location
Tir Alainn B&B is 80 miles from Fort William and 85 miles from Inverness.
The accommodation is situated at the south end of the island, only five miles from the Skye bridge on the A87.
Just 8 miles away is the only remaining traditional ferry link to the mainland at Kylerhea, where there is also an otter haven.
The ferry crossing at Kylerhea is reached by way of one of the oldest and most winding roads on Skye, a drover's route which leads to the mainland at Glenelg - where a pictish broch may be seen and lunch taken at the local hotel.
Leisure
The picturesque harbour of Elgol is about 20 miles [a 45 minute drive] from Tir Alainn and here you can find:
- Spectacular coastal scenery
- Boat trips across Loch Scavaig to Loch Coruisk
- Boat trips to some of the smaller isles
The safe sandy beach at Ashaig is only a 10 minute stroll away - where seals, otters and bird life abound amongst the crystal clear water and coral shores.
Broadford is the nearest village, two miles away along the main road. The rest of this lovely island is easily accessible from here.
Broadford Bay was the setting in late summer 1998 for the appearance of two rare northern bottle-nosed whales.
The pair delighted the crowds of people fortunate enough to be present in the area at the time - but will they return?
