Food and Drink
The area between St Andrews and Lundin Links was plagued by a highwayman known as 'Wee Mad MacGregor' - a colourful character who was under five feet tall and disfigured on one side of his body, making his face droop. Wee Mad MacGregor reputedly drank and ate at the Inn following his 'outings'.
Marc, the chef at Lathones, believes that good cooking starts with fine fresh ingredients, and Fife certainly has plenty of high quality produce to offer.
The seafood available in the area is second to none, with the fishing boats at Pittenweem bringing in new catches daily.
Some of the finest herds of Angus and Highland cattle within Scotland are resident in Fife, producing delicious meat.
The range and quality of the local seasonal fruit and vegetables found in Fife is simply superb.
There are mouth-watering strawberries, raspberries and other soft fruits in the summer, and potatoes, carrots and other root vegetables in the autumn.
The Inn at Lathones offers a fantastic array of locally sourced food for breakfast, including a selection of fish, along with a European selection of cheeses meats with soft rolls and rye breads.
Of course, the classic fried full Scottish breakfast is served, together with traditional porridge. Breakfast is served from 7:30 to 10:30 each morning.
For further details of lunch and dinner, please see the Inn's website [use the 'Website' link above].
A fine range of cocktails is served, together with some of Scotland's finest real ales [all served in pewter tankards], European beers and whisky.
