Ballindarroch

Built in about 1850 as a shooting lodge close to Inverness, this unique Victorian house now provides a very special experience in a relaxed and informal atmosphere.

Ballindarroch is set in 10 acres of secluded woodland gardens and offers accommodation close to Loch Ness.

The grounds and garden are filled with wonderful mature trees, bulbs and rhododendrons.

The River Ness passes through the trees below the house, which is surrounded by mixed woodland - ideal for a relaxing stroll at the end of the day.

More than 20 different types of birds regularly visit the gardens at Ballindarroch and there are resident Red Squirrels.

The house is warm and comfortably furnished to a high standard with some period pieces and stunning hand crafted Chinese wall paper in some rooms.

There is a welcoming log fire and a separate television room.

Private Parties
The house is suitable for family gatherings and private meetings or even a marquee on the lawn leading from the drawing room.

The bedrooms are spacious and comfortably furnished with views over the gardens and surrounding woodland.

All rooms have tea and coffee making facilities and hair dryers.

A generous breakfast is served each morning including full Scottish or Continental as you desire.

There are a number of local eating places as well as a wide range of restaurants, pubs and hotels serving food in Inverness. Your hosts will be happy to advise on the best places to try.

Ballindarroch House is situated just 10 minutes south of Inverness with Inverness airport a 30 minute drive away.

Taking the B862 road from Inverness towards Dores and Foyers, after 4 miles you come to Scaniport.

Exactly 1 mile past the Scaniport sign turn right at the Ballindarroch signpost. Drive ½ mile, take the first left turn and then fork right through the front gate.

Ballindarroch House is very well situated as a base for exploring the whole of the Scottish Highlands and with Loch Ness right on the doorstep, Inverness just a few miles away, there is always somewhere to visit.

Nearby visitor attractions include Culloden Battlefield, Fort George, the Cairngorm Mountains and Cawdor Castle.

Glen Affric, one of Scotland's most beautiful scenic glens, is a short drive away. The Black Isle, Isle of Skye, Moray Coast and Wester Ross can all be visited in a day.

For outdoor enthusiasts, you can cycle along the quieter south shore of Loch Ness to Foyers and visit the famous waterfalls. With walking and climbing, golf, fishing, shooting and riding all available, there is always something to do or see, even when the weather may not be at its best!
