General Details
This is surely one of the very best places to stay in Edinburgh. Even in winter time, this is a warm, peaceful house with a fire in the drawing room and stoves in all of the bedrooms - in addition to the central heating!
Located in the residential district of Morningside, just a short bus journey to the south of Edinburgh city centre, this bed and breakfast can provide off street parking for guests and features a beautiful garden with tame birds and squirrels.
Morningside Place is on a number of direct bus routes offering very easy access to the main attractions of Edinburgh, including the castle, theatres and concert halls.
Owners Bob and Jill have a great deal of experience welcoming guests to their home - Bob was Honorary Consul for Belgium before his retirement. Jill speaks both French and German.
Relax in the drawing room which has an open fire, television and piano, or enjoy a coffee in the south-facing walled garden.
Accommodation
The master bedroom, 'Cedar', overlooks the peaceful rear garden of this Victorian property and has a king-size four-poster double bed and a modern TV.
The Cedar room also has en-suite facilities (shower, toilet and wash basin).
Each bedroom has a TV, radio, hairdryer, electric blanket and tea or coffee making facilities.
The second bedroom, 'Yew Tree', has 2 single beds and a private bathroom (not en-suite) with bath, shower, toilet and wash basin. The view from the bedroom window looks onto the front garden of the house.
On the ground floor there is a double room called 'Sundial' - with a standard size double bed and a large private bathroom. This has a bath, shower, toilet and wash basin.
Food and Drink
The conservatory is the ideal place to enjoy an excellent choice at breakfast, including a traditional Scottish cooked breakfast.
As Jill is a dancer she is happy to provide breakfast for every sort of diet - from dancers to rugby players! There are always full fruit bowls for guests to help themselves, but there is home-made chocolate cake as well.
Morningside has every sort of cafe and restaurant on the doorstep - Chinese, Indian, Nepalese and a small Italian cafe with the best ice cream in Edinburgh!
After a tiring day out why not bring a take-away back to eat in the conservatory?
Location
Regular bus services provide quick and easy access to Edinburgh city centre. The front door of the house is located down a short flight of steps in the rear garden.
