Marsco Bed and Breakfast

Open All Year - in a beautiful location on Skye, this B&B offers wonderful views and very comfortable accommodation.

This bed and breakfast is close to the shore of Loch Harport, surrounded by beautiful countryside on the picturesque Isle of Skye.

'Marsco' is situated within walking distance of the world famous Talisker Whisky Distillery, in the small village of Carbost.

The island's main town of Portree is 16 miles away, a short but scenic drive from the B&B accommodation.

Glen Brittle is about 10 minutes drive away, an area very popular with walkers and climbers with spectacular views of the Cuillin Mountains.

The land in front of the B&B is a wild flower meadow in summer and there is a gate at the bottom of the garden which leads to the meadow and down to the lochside.

Marsco has a spacious lounge with outstanding views over the loch and a wood burning stove.

The lounge also features a large flat screen television, DVD and video player.

The patio area in the garden is an ideal place in which to relax or enjoy afternoon tea.

The B&B's two main bedrooms have stunning views over Loch Harport, and the third bedroom has views to the Cuillins.

Bedrooms are comfortable and well equipped; there are two rooms with large double beds, and one twin bedded room.

Each room has:

• Colour television with satellite channels
• DVD player
• Alarm clock
• Hairdryer
• Tea and coffee making facilities

The upstairs bathroom facilities include a full size bath with power shower.

There is also a large additional purpose-built shower room downstairs.

The two double bedrooms are large enough for an additional guest bed - so these rooms can be used for either twin or triple occupancy.

Breakfast is served each morning in the bright and spacious dining room.

Afternoon teas [available between 16:30 and 18:00] and evening meals are now available on request Marsco B&B.

The nearby village of Carbost has a shop and a pub / restaurant. There are restaurants and a new supermarket in Portree, where it is also possible to buy freshly caught fish at the pier.

When visiting this area it is best to have your own vehicle and Marsco B&B has ample parking for guests.

Carbost is easily located by road - turn off the A87 at Sligachan, onto the A863. Pass through Glen Drynoch then take the first left hand turn onto the B8009 - Merkadale is on the way to Carbost on this road. Marsco can be found on the right hand side of the road, 1.5 miles from the junction. It is the fourth house along as you drive up the hill.

Loch Harport is home to a multitude of wildlife including otters and seals. The many resident birds at various times of year include herons, sandpipers and oyster catchers - whilst it is not unusual to see eagles and buzzards flying overhead.

The beach at nearby Glen Brittle is lovely on a sunny day and the area offers marvellous walks, with opportunities for photography, painting and fishing.

Portree has a small theatre and cinema along with various shops, which sell goods such as traditional silver jewellery and local hand-knitted products. A number of picture galleries feature the work of local artists.

Bed and breakfast £22.00 to £48.00 per person per night.
On request - afternoon tea from £1.10 and evening meal approximately £15.00 per person.

This is a totally non smoking B&B.
