The area around Melfort Village has many attractions, including sea and loch fishing and a number of walking trails, offering views of the Argyll countryside.

Oban, the main ferry port for boats to the Scottish Islands, is 16 miles from the accommodation, and attractions include McCaig's Tower and the Oban Distillery.

Each cottage in Melfort Village is equipped with a high standard of self-catering facilities and furnishings.

All bathrooms have either a bath with overhead shower or a bath and separate shower cubicle, toilet and wash basin, and some cottages also have an extra shower room.

The maximum occupancy for each cottage includes a sofa bed that can accommodate up to two people.

Inner Village Cottages

Originally a set of Victorian farm buildings, the Inner Village Cottages have sleeping capacities ranging from four to eight people.

Each cottage has electric heating that can be supplemented by either an open fire or wood-burning stove, and guests have access to an area of garden.

Farm Cottages

Argyll Holiday Cottages - Melfort Village, Kilmelford

Situated across the bridge from the River Oude, the Farm Cottages are housed in a large stone building and have access to a shared rear garden.

Each cottage has a double bedroom, a twin bedroom and a bunkroom, plus a bathroom, lounge, kitchen and dining room.

Farm Cottage One can accommodate up to eight people and the other two cottages can accommodate up to ten [using additional bunks in bunkroom].

Walled Garden Cottages

The Walled Garden is a selection of ten cottages and one flat, with a communal laundry, deep freeze, sauna and games room.

Each of the ten cottages has uninterrupted views overlooking Loch Melfort, a parking space, and a private patio.

Sleeping accommodation comprises of a double bedroom and a twin bedroom, and the open-plan lounge, dining area and kitchens are well equipped and fully furnished.

The Mews Flat

The Mews Flat is situated on the first floor of the central building in the Walled Garden, and is ideally positioned for views over Loch Melfort and the surrounding Argyll hills.

Accommodation is offered in a double bedroom and a twin bedroom, and the open-plan sitting room, dining area and kitchen offers spectacular views over the Loch.

Pier Cottages

Offering accommodation for up to ten guests, these cottages are situated 50 feet from the edge of Fearnach Bay and have views across Melfort Pier.

Both cottages have one double bedroom, one twin bedroom, and one bunk room which can accommodate up to four people.

Each cottage has a large kitchen and dining room, and a spacious sitting room with open fire.

There are also cloak rooms and drying rooms, and the cottages have their own gardens and private parking spaces.

Food and Drink

All accommodation in Melfort Village is self-catering, although the village has a bar and restaurant offering a varied menu.

Kilmelford has a well stocked local store for food supplies, and groceries can be ordered in advance and delivered to your cottage prior to arrival.

In Kilmelford, the Quaich cafe offers tasty snacks and home baking daily, and the local hotel and public house, the Cuilfail Hotel, serves bar meals.

Oban also has a number of restaurants catering for a variety of tastes.

Self-catering cottage On Loch Melfort - Melfort Village is Located near Oban

Melfort Village is situated off the A816 road on the shore of Loch Melfort, 18 miles south of Oban.

Guests driving from either Glasgow or Edinburgh should expect a drive of just under three hours from Glasgow and just under four hours from Edinburgh.

From Glasgow, follow the A82 along Loch Lomond to Tarbet where you take the left fork onto the A83, through Arrochar and Inveraray to Lochgilphead. Kilmelford is 23 miles north of Lochgilphead on the A816.

The turn off for Melfort is on the left hand side just before the village of Kilmelford.

From Edinburgh, head towards Crianlarich on the A85 and continue on this road to Oban. Travel 16 miles south of Oban along the A816. The turn off for Melfort Village is the right hand side after Kilmelford.

The single track road to Melfort travels two miles through the woods, close to the shores of Loch Melfort. After crossing a small bridge, the road to reception is immediately on the right.

Ferries sail from Oban to the islands of Mull, Colonsay, Coll, Tiree, Lismore, Barra and South Uist.

Prices include bed linen, towels and the use of all facilities.
