Located right on the shores of Loch Long with views towards the Isle of Skye on the horizon, this self catering accommodation is a perfect holiday home in the Western Highlands of Scotland.

Now offering outstanding accomodation for up to six people, you can book the ground floor wing of the house (for up to four people) or the first floor suite (for one or two people) or the whole of the house exclusively for your family or group.

The accommodation is furnished and equipped to the highest standards to offer an exceptional holiday base for exploring the North West Highlands and Skye. Breakfasts and packed lunches are available on request.

Historic Eileen Donan Castle is half a mile away, with outstanding scenery, walking opportunities and varied daily outings on the doorstep. Watch the sunset over the castle and you should have time to wander back to the comfortable accommodation before it gets too dark!

The spacious ground floor wing of this historic house provides comfortable accommodation for four adults, with a suite available upstairs for an additional two adults if required.

Lovely gardens surround Tigh Tasgaidh Cottage, and guests are welcome to use the gardens and the outside furniture at their leisure.

With excellent facilities and a wonderful location, it is no surprise that guests return here from all over the world on a regular basis!

Accessibilty - there are three steps leading to the front entrance and one step to the back door. Accommodation in the main ground floor wing of the house is all on one level once inside the property.

The private front door opens into the huge sitting room, which has large windows looking out onto the sea.

As well as a sofa and comfy chairs, the sitting room has a flat screen TV and DVD Player, books, games, a small selection of DVDs, OS Maps for planning walks and local information leaflets.

The spacious kitchen/dining room is fitted with new pine units and matching furniture. Kitchen equipment includes electric cooker, microwave, fridge, freezer and a CD player. The washing machine is a washer/dryer for extra convenience.

The double bedded room has a king size Victorian bed and also has garden views.

The twin bedded room overlooks the patio and garden to the rear of the house.

The bathroom has a new three piece suite - bath with overhead shower, toilet and wash basin.

Everything about this accommodation points to the owner's intention to create an apartment that feels like you have all of the comforts of your own house. Expect to find flowers, mineral water, tea and coffee making facilities, complimentary afternoon tea in the sitting room on arrival and enjoy breakfast in the dining room overlooking the sea.

The main private bathroom has a bath with overhead shower, toilet and wash basin - in addition to the en-suite facilities. Guests using the first floor suite share the gardens with the downstairs accommodation.

For guests having breakfast, a wide choice of food is available and special diets can be catered for on request. Locally sourced butter, cheeses, salmon, free range eggs and home-made bread often feature at breakfast time.

For eating out, there are hotels and pubs serving food in the immediate area. An excellent restaurant is within walking distance of the accommodation. Plockton is a short drive away and has four good restaurants to choose from.

Situated on the A87 (the route from Invergarry to Kyle of Lochalsh and the Isle of Skye), this location is very easy to reach by road from both Inverness and Fort William.

There is a railway station at Kyle of Lochalsh, with service connections to Inverness.

For visitors wanting to explore the Isle of Skye, the 'Skye Bridge' is only 10 miles away.

Alternatively, you can make use of the seasonal Glenelg to Kylerhea short ferry crossing for your outward or return journey.

Dornie is a picturesque, peaceful village on the banks of Loch Long. This cottage would make an ideal base for a touring holiday in the Western Highlands of Scotland, or for walking in and around the Isle of Skye.

Leisure activities nearby include climbing, riding, golfing, swimming, taking a boat trip, fishing and off-road biking. Skiing is also possible in winter.

The romantic Eilean Donan Castle is within easy walking distance of the cottage - and the property's owner, Louise, will also happily suggest a number of interesting walks. Walkers can be dropped off or picked up by arrangement.

Plockton is a village nearby that is owned by the National Trust, and there is an abundance of excellent hill walks in this locality.

For a day trip, visit the Glomach Falls (a magnificent sight at any time of year) or explore the Torridon and Applecross regions.

Bicycles can be stored in the garage and small boats or canoes can be launched by the side of Tigh Tasgaidh's front garden. A slip-way 100 metres away provides access to the water for sailing dinghies or larger boats.

You can borrow (free of charge) the use of barbecue facilities, a small boat, fishing equipment or mountain bikes whilst staying at the cottage - please ask for details.
