Located in or close to Tarbert, the main village on the Isle of Harris, these holiday properties offer high quality accommodation.

Available for self-catering lets, West Tarbert House is within a short walk of central Tarbert, whilst Glen Carragrich Cottage is 3 miles east of the island's capital.

Both cottages are ideal for a cycling or walking holiday in the Western Isles - also called the Outer Hebrides - one of Scotland's most scenic locations.

West Tarbert House and Glen Carragrich Cottage are well equipped and provide very comfortable accommodation, with everything you need for your vacation or short break.

West Tarbert House can accommodate up to 4 people - only a 10 minute walk from the ferry terminal.

On the ground floor there is a double bedroom, a bathroom with shower, a sitting room and a kitchen / dining room.

The sitting room has a colour television, a DVD and video player, a CD player and radio, books, videos and games.

The large, well equipped kitchen has a dining table with 4 chairs, an electric cooker, a microwave, a fridge/freezer, a dishwasher, a washing machine and a tumble drier.

Upstairs, there is a twin bedroom [2 single beds] with wash basin and a separate bathroom.

Glen Carragrich Cottage can accommodate up to 6 people - with stunning views over the islands in East Loch Tarbert and beyond.

There are 3 double bedrooms and a bathroom [on ground floor level] with both a bath and an electric shower.

The sitting room has a colour television [with access to satellite channels] and a video player. A selection of books and board games is stored in the porch.

The kitchen is spacious and well equipped, with a dining table and chairs, an electric cooker, a microwave, a fridge, a washing machine and a tumble drier.

Glen Carragrich Cottage includes many modern features, but some of the original furnishings have been retained to provide a good blend of character and comfort.

Tarbert has shops and amenities for your self-catering holiday, including a small grocery store, hotels with restaurants, a post office and a bank.

West Tarbert House is located in a quiet road off the main Tarbert to Stornoway road, within walking distance of the port and ferry terminal.

Glen Carragrich Cottage is in a picturesque, remote coastal location, a short drive to the east of Tarbert.

The Isle of Harris is land-locked with the other Western Isle, Lewis. The capital of Lewis is Stornoway, about an hour by car from Tarbert.

There are ferry links to Tarbert from Uig on the Isle of Skye, or to Stornoway from Ullapool on the mainland of Scotland.

Stornoway can also be reached by air from Inverness. Glasgow or Edinburgh, with connecting flights available from London and the rest of the UK. Car hire is available at Stornoway Airport.

If you are visiting and exploring the Isle of Harris without a car, there is a good bus service covering most of the island.

Leisure activities on Harris include bird watching, fishing and golfing - but many visitors come here to enjoy the peace and quiet.

There are many sandy beaches to discover and the scenery is magnificent and varied - from rugged rocky hills to gentle orchid-strewn meadows.

The golf course at Scarista has a classic coastal setting - although only a 9-hole course, you can play as many times as you like for the modest cost of your day ticket!

There is also an 18-hole course at Stornoway.

Fishing permits can be obtained locally to fish for salmon and sea trout, or free fishing can be enjoyed on the many fresh-water lochs [in which wild brown trout abound] or in the sea.

There are many places of interest worthy of a visit on both islands [Harris and Lewis]. Rodel Church in South Harris and the standing stones at Callanish in Lewis are very popular.
