General Details
This traditional self catering holiday cottage has a delightful location in the heart of the Cairngorm National Park in Scotland.
It is situated in Chapel Brae, Braemar, Royal Deeside - amongst the scenic countryside of the Grampian and Cairngorm Mountains - hence the name 'Mount View Cottage'.
Braemar has an 18-hole golf course and is an excellent centre for outdoor pursuits including walking, climbing, mountain biking, fishing, skiing and pony-trekking in the Aberdeenshire countryside.
Accommodation
Extensively renovated to provide modern facilities (the owners use the property for holidays as well), the cottage is beautifully furnished and well insulated, with full central heating.
The property has 3 bedrooms and can provide self catering accommodation for up to 6 adults in comfort and style.
The main bedroom is on ground floor level and has a king size double bed.
The main bedroom's en-suite bathroom has a bath, wash basin, toilet and hairdryer.
There is a large sitting room - with a wood burning stove/fire, TV, DVD player, radio and views to the Cairngorm hills.
The large kitchen/dining room is fully fitted and equipped with an electric cooker, microwave, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, washer, dryer and ironing facilities. Everything required for a comfortable self catering holiday is provided.
The second bathroom [with shower, toilet and wash basin] completes the ground floor accommodation.
On the first floor of the cottage are 2 twin bedded rooms.
Mountview Cottage faces south and has a fenced garden with a rustic barbecue and views to the hills.
Food and Drink
In the nearby village of Braemar, shops include a grocery and a butcher. There are also several hotels, restaurants and coffee shops serving meals, plus a take-away outlet.
Location
Mountview Cottage is located in a sheltered corner off Chapel Brae, with direct access to the hills, but the village centre is only a 5 minute walk away.
Edinburgh is 96 miles away from the cottage, Perth and Aberdeen are 51 and 58 miles away respectively.
The nearest international airports are at Edinburgh and Aberdeen. There are rail connections in Perth and Aberdeen.
Leisure
There are a number of historic castles close to Mountview Cottage including Balmoral, Braemar, Crathes and Glamis.
Travel off the beaten track and enjoy a Land Rover safari or a day's off-road driving in the Scottish countryside.
Red squirrels are frequent visitors to the garden of Mountview Cottage.
In the neighbouring Aberdeenshire countryside, you might spot the native wild red deer - and sometimes they can also be seen from the windows or garden of the cottage.
Off peak season is often a particularly good time to visit this part of Scotland - frosty mornings often feature bright sunny skies and cosy wayside inns provide a crackling log fire and a hearty meal at the end of your walk in the hills.
