Kerrow House Cottages, Glen Affric

There is a choice of self-catering cottages at Kerrow House, each offering a very high standard of holiday accommodation in the Scottish Highlands.

Each cottage or lodge is within easy reach of Glen Affric, Glen Urquhart, Strathglass and Loch Ness in Inverness-shire.

All rental properties have been refurbished and upgraded recently to ensure accommodation of exceptional quality.

Accommodation

Kerrow House Cottages - Birchwood and Rowan

Birchwood and Rowan are two identical properties constructed in a typical Scandinavian 'A Frame' style and are named after the Birch and Rowan trees that surround them.

Superbly fitted in pine they have warmth and character, even in winter - with gas central heating and a built-in electric fire.

Birchwood and Rowan both have one double and one twin bedroom, accommodating up to four people in comfort.

The sitting room in each has a dining area and patio doors leading onto a large verandah deck with views onto the River Glass.

Kerrow House Cottages - Birchwood and Rowan Sitting Room

Fisherman's Cottage offers charming accommodation with one bedroom - ideal for a single traveller or a couple [with room for a small child or dog].

The bedroom has a 6ft wide bed that can be set up as either a large double bed or two separate single beds.

Fisherman's Cottage has a large L-shaped open plan lounge/kitchen with dining area and modern equipment.

The lounge features a wood burning stove and views to the river.

Kerrow House Cottages - Riverside Cottage Lounge

Riverside Cottage [right next to the river, ideal for anglers] is very spacious and finished throughout with wood panelling.

It has a large well equipped kitchen, a bathroom with shower and bath, a double and a twin bedroom. A fifth person can be accommodated on the sofa bed [small extra charge] in the lounge/dining room, which also features a wood burning stove.

Stalker's Wing is a completely self-contained wing of Kerrow House with its own private entrance and:

  • Traditional furnishings
  • Comfortable living room with wood burning stove
  • Large farmhouse kitchen and separate utility room
  • Accommodation for up to 8 [2 double, 1 twin, 1 room with double bunk bed]

Food and Drink

The nearest place to buy provisions is a convenience store 1.5 miles away from the Kerrow House properties. A number of pubs serving food are in the locality and the closest major town is Inverness, 26 miles away.

Arrangements can be made to collect guests from Inverness, where there is an Inter-City railway terminal and an International Airport. However having the use of a car is advisable to enjoy a visit to this area fully.

Directions by Road:
Take the A82 from Inverness [signposted to Fort William] along Loch Ness to Drumnadrochit. Turn right at the Loch Ness Monster Exhibition onto the A831 through Glen Urquhart towards Cannich. After about 12 miles go down a long hill, turn left onto a single track road towards Tomich and after another mile turn right on the driveway to Kerrow House.

Leisure

Kerrow House Cottages - Fishing

Kerrow offers free trout fishing on its private 3.5 mile section of the River Glass, and can also arrange salmon fishing [charge applies].

The spectacular and beautiful Plodda Falls are only a six mile drive from Kerrow House and there are numerous walks in the surrounding area, many of which are signposted.

Glen Affric, Glen Cannich and Strathfarrar are close by.

Travel east past the village of Drumnadrochit to explore Loch Ness and the picturesque ruins of Urquhart Castle, illuminated at night.

In the unspoilt countryside of this region, you can also enjoy horse riding, pony trekking, mountain climbing, cycling, bird watching and wildlife watching [raptors, finches, deer, pine marten, otters] and a range of guided activities.
