The Corner Town House is a holiday home offering self-catering accommodation for up to six people in Brown Place, in the Old Pulteneytown area of Wick.
Brown Place is a quiet street and car parking is available at the front door of the cottage.
Wick is a historic fishing port on the north east coastline of Caithness, Scotland - a self catering holiday or a short break here can be either relaxing, or packed with activities.
Situated approximately 100 miles from Inverness [the closest city and the capital of the Scottish Highlands], Wick is just 15 miles from John O' Groats and is easily accessible via the main A9 road through Scotland.

Accommodation
Accommodation at The Corner Town House is offered in one double bedroom and three single bedrooms - there is also a pull-out bed for extra sleeping space.
The cosy lounge has seating for five people, a colour television with plasma screen and digital channels [Sky TV included], and an electric 'coal effect' fire.
The kitchen has a table with six chairs and is equipped with modern electrical and gas appliances - everything required for a comfortable self-catering holiday is supplied.
The main bedroom has a lilac and cream colour scheme, and there is ample hanging space and storage. Furniture in the main bedroom includes:
- King-size pine double bed and two bedside tables
- Wardrobe, dressing table, chest of drawers and two basket chairs
- Radio alarm clock and hairdryer
- En-suite facilities - bath, toilet and wash basin
- Two bathrobes and ample freshly laundered fluffy towels
There are two single rooms upstairs and the ground floor single room is ideal for older guests.
Also on the ground floor is a second bathroom, with shower, toilet and wash basin.
In the garden at the rear of the cottage, guests can enjoy a barbecue, a glass of wine, or stretch out in a deck chair.
The cottage contains a selection of information on the area around Wick and nearby activities and is perfect for longer stays.
Food and Drink
Wick offers a range of shops and a number of restaurants - the town centre can be reached by bus, or a pleasant walk via the harbour or river bank.
Visitors to this Cottage in Wick are always made to feel very welcome - perhaps with a freshly brewed pot of tea on arrival or a freshly baked cake for tea!
Location
Regular bus services pass the front door of The Corner Town House on a regular basis, and Wick's railway station is within walking distance. Train services link Wick with the other towns of North East Scotland, and Scotland's main cities. The railway journey to Wick travels through areas of completely unspoiled countryside.
Wick Airport is small, but there are flights available from most major cities via Edinburgh or Aberdeen Airport. Travel direct from London to Inverness, then hire a car from Inverness [Dalcross] Airport and enjoy a really scenic drive north, or take the bus.
It is possible to visit from the sea - Wick has a small, quiet harbour, and the coastline can be challenging for inexperieced sailors and yachtsmen!
Leisure
The holiday cottage is a short walk from many of the small shops in Wick.
In the town square or Main Street of Wick there is often entertainment or street stalls.
Things to do during a holiday based in Wick:
- Joining in the fun and dressing up as a Viking at the annual Gala Procession!
- Visiting Sinclair and Girnigoe Castle - whether one castle or two, these ruins were once home to the Earl of Caithness
- Horse riding - a small number of riding schools in the area
- Golfing - many coastal courses in Caithness, including Reiss Golf Course only three miles from The Corner Town House
- Fishing - loch, river and sea angling available nearby
- Visiting Museums - for example local award winning Heritage Museum
- Walking in the Castle of Mey Gardens - tours also available of the former home of the Queen Mother
Activities for children during a holiday in Wick include visiting the local play park, swimming pool, trampolines, tennis courts or crazy golf course.
The north of Scotland is famous for its rugged and beautiful scenery - many people visit for a short holiday, but return to stay permanently!
