General Details
Only a few steps from the sandy beach on the shores of Machrihanish Bay, and yards from the Machrihanish Golf Club's first tee, lies Wreck Cottage.
This is a perfect location for a peaceful vacation in Argyll - at the southern tip of the Mull of Kintyre with views across the water to some of Scotland's most scenic islands.
Entirely refurbished to a superior standard, the holiday cottage has high quality oak flooring, a brand new kitchen and bathroom, as well as one of the best sea front positions in Machrihanish village.
Machrihanish is on the west coast of the Kintyre peninsula near the southernmost point, and here you will discover miles and miles of beautiful beaches.
The famous Machrihanish Golf Course is one of the finest and most popular 'links' style golf courses in Scotland, particularly with American visitors or guests from Edinburgh, London and Glasgow.
Although Wreck Cottage has not been specifically designed for wheelchair users, the property is mainly on one level, with the exception of the twin room and family bathroom, which are on the lower level [master double has an en-suite bathroom].
Accommodation
Only a stone's throw from the gentle breaking surf of Machrihanish Bay and a gorgeous sandy beach, Wreck Cottage is a spacious and welcoming holiday home.
Every modern convenience to make a self-catering holiday as comfortable and as relaxing as possible is provided.
The living room has two ultra-comfortable leather sofas ideal for lazing in, perhaps for a relaxing evening with a book or a film, or cuddle up in front of the cosy open fire.
A window seat runs the length of the large 'picture window', with a stunning view across the Sound of Kintyre towards the Isle of Islay, Jura and Gigha.
Three bedrooms - two double and one twin - ensure accommodation in real comfort for up to six people, ideal for families, or groups of friends or golfers visiting Machrihanish to play the famous coastal course.
A pull-out double sofa bed in the living room offers even more flexibility, so that a party of up to eight people can be accommodated.
The kitchen is of course fully equipped, with an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge-freezer, dishwasher and washing machine for clothes.
The dining table can easily seat six for a meal, and it has extra extending 'leaves' to make more room.
Home entertainments include a CD player, board games, TV with 'Sky' channels and a selection of DVDs to watch at your leisure.
Additional bedroom information:
The master bedroom has a 'king-size' double bed and en-suite facilities, plus a view over the garden to Machrihanish Bay beyond.
The double bedroom is at the front of the cottage, and has a handy corner sink and a chest of drawers for storage.
The twin bedded room at the end of the hall has an extra TV with DVD player and a single chair-bed, further increasing potential occupancy to nine people.
The large family bathroom is next door to the twin bedded room has an electric shower over the bath, toilet and wash basin.

Leisure
A visit to Machrihansih and the Kintyre Peninsula need not be all about golf - although often it is! The Machrihanish Championship Golf Course is rightly famed for its rugged beauty, but there are other courses nearby [such as Dunaverty Golf Club, or Carradale 9-hole course about a 40 minute drive away] and many other leisure activities to enjoy.
A short ferry ride from nearby Kennacraig you can spend a day on the islands of Islay or Gigha.
Those here for the excellent walking and hiking opportunities are sure to appreciate the Kintyre Trail, and there is ample opportunity to go horse riding from one of the local stables.
Surfing and windsurfing is increasingly popular with visitors to Machrihanish Bay, and the Breaks Surf Shop has a growing reputation.
Fishing is another reason to come to this part of Scotland - anglers will find this location suits their requirements.
In the next nearest town, Campbeltown, amenities include a library, swimming pool, gym and cinema. There is also an Owl Sanctuary, a Museum, the Linda McCartney Memorial Garden, sea tours and a well-stocked Tourist Information centre in Campbeltown.
