Caisteal Liath Self-Catering Chalets and Cottage

Caisteal Liath offers self-catering accommodation in the small community of Baddidarrach, near Lochinver in Sutherland.

Accommodation is available in a selection of three chalets and a holiday cottage, all of which are set in their own well kept grounds on the northern side of Lochiver Bay.

Guests at the chalets and holiday cottage can enjoy uninterrupted sea and mountain views whilst relaxing in a comfortably furnished 'home from home'.

The accommodation is easily accessible by car via the A835 from Inverness, and is also served by public transport links - please see 'location' section below.

The area surrounding Lochinver offers a variety of acivities, including walking, fishing, climbing and bird-watching.

For golfers, the Royal Dornoch Championship Golf Course and the Ullapool golf course are both within easy reach, and the sandy beach at Achmelvich is just a few minutes away by car.

Caisteal Liath Self-Catering Chalets are graded four stars by the Scottish Tourist Board.

Accommodation is offered in a choice of chalets for two to four people, and a self-catering cottage for up to four people.

Strathan

Strathan is a luxury one bedroom chalet that can accommodate two people and is ideal for romantic breaks.

The chalet overlooks Lochinver Bay and the surrounding mountains of Canisp, Suilven, Cul Mhor and Stac Pollaidh.

The bedroom is furnished with a king-size bed and is decorated to a high standard.

The bathroom has modern chrome fittings and features a corner Jacuzzi whirlpool bath, a power shower, a wash basin, a toilet and a heated towel rail.

The open plan living room / dining area is furnished with a dining table and chairs, sofa, colour television, video recorder and stereo for entertainment.

The newly fitted kitchen is equipped with a ceramic hob cooker, microwave, refrigerator, freezer, coffee maker, dishwasher, washing machine and all crockery and utensils.

A large patio door opens from the kitchen onto a private balcony.

Guests can relax on the patio furniture whilst enjoying views of Lochinver, Lochinver Bay and the mountains beyond.

Assynt and Midtown

With uniterrupted views across Lochinver Bay, the Assynt and Midtown Chalets each offer accommodation for up to four people in one double bedroom and one twin bedroom.

Each chalet has an open plan living room / kitchen / dining area, and a shower-room.

The fully-tiled shower rooms have chrome accessories, a corner shower, toilet, wash basin, wall heater and heated towel rail.

The living room / dining areas are furnished with a dining table and chairs, sofa, colour television and video recorder.

Each chalet also has a private balcony with a patio table and chairs.

The newly fitted kitchens are equipped with a ceramic hob cooker, microwave, coffee maker, fridge and freezer, dishwasher, washing machine / tumble drier and all crockery and cooking utensils.

New for 2008 - the cottage will also have a separate downstairs shower-room with a second toilet and wash basin.

Caisteal Liath Cottage

This modern, converted croft cottage is entirely self-contained and offers accommodation for four people in one double bedroom and one twin bedroom.

Guests can enjoy views of Lochinver Bay towards the harbour and mountains from the lounge, which is furnished with reclining leather seats, widescreen television and stereo.

The kitchen also has views over the bay and is fitted with oak units, an electric double oven and grill, ceramic hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, washing machine and coffee maker.

All pans, crockery, cutlery and utensils are provided, and there is a patio area with a table and chairs outside.

The newly fitted bathroom has a Jacuzzi whirlpool bath, toilet and wash basin.

All accommodation has ample parking and tourist information books and maps are provided.

Situated on the North West coast of Scotland, a short walk from Lochiver in Sutherland, Caisteal Liath Self-Catering Cottages are easily accessible.

Driving Directions:

Take the A835 from Inverness to Ullapool and continue north to Ledmore Junction.

Turn left ont othe A837 to Lochinver and continue until you can take a right-hand turn to Baddidarrach - the road crosses over a stone bridge and the River Inver.

Turn left at the signpost for Baddidarrach just after the cattle grid and follow this road to the Caisteal Liath Self-Catering Cottages.

Other Transport:

Bus: City Link, Rapsons and Tim Dearman both run buses from Inverness to Lochinver and you can arrange to be met at the bus terminus.

Train: Inverness train station is served by many services throughout the country and a connecting train service runs from Inverness to Lairg train station.

The post bus links Lairg train station with Lochinver.

Plane: The closest airport is Inverness and cars can be hired to complete your journey.

Scotland's North West coast offers visitors a variety of attractions and leisure activities.

Information on attractions to the Lochinver area can be found in the nearby award-winning Assynt Visitor Centre.

This is also the starting point for walks guided by the Highland Council Countryside Rangers throughout summer.

Beaches in the area around Lochinver include the sandy Achmelvich Beach and the White Shore, which is a short walk from Lochinver's shopping area.

Walking, climbing, bird-watching and fishing are just a few of the outdoor pursuits that this area of Sutherland has to offer, and golfers can choose from a selection of nearby golf courses.
