With a wonderful location in the village of Machrihanish, near Campbeltown, this holiday cottage has views over the practice green at the famous golf course towards the sea.
The Isles of Jura and Islay can be seen in the distance, this self catering property is only a short walk from the sandy shores of Machrihanish Bay.
The Sheiling is a spacious bungalow set in a well maintained garden and offers ideal accommodation for golfers, walkers, nature lovers or beachcombers!
Accommodation
The cottage provides comfortable accommodation all on ground floor level, with three bedrooms [2 double and 1 twin].
Up to six people can stay at any one time. The lounge has a bay window and a TV, VCR and CD Player [with a small choice of videos and CDs for entertainment]. There is a good sized dining room and a fully equipped kitchen.
As well as the well stocked bookcase, music and films, the main feature of the living room is the large picture window where you will want to sit and admire the ever-changing mood of the sea or marvel at a glourious sunset.
The dining room also has a bay window, and a dining table with six chairs. The kitchen's outlook is towards the hills, with cattle sometimes grazing in the fields just over the garden wall. Compact but well equipped, the kitchen has everthing you need when on a self-catering holiday, including electric cooker, fridge and washing machine.
The bathroom has an electric shower and has been recently refurbished to the highest standards.
Set in the tranquil surroundings of Machrihanish, The Sheiling has two well maintained gardens. At the rear of the property outdoor furniture allows you to soak up the sun and views towards the hills. Or, relax in the front garden and take in the stunning scenary over the golf course out to sea. A large outbuilding is the ideal place in which to store golf clubs, surf boards and fishing rods.
Food and Drink
Campbeltown is the nearest town with amenities and attractions including a supermarket, swimming pool, gym, library, cinema, owl sanctuary, Linda McCartny Memorial Garden, and Campbeltown Loch. Traditional Scottish Whisky tasting is available at the Springbank Distillery in Campeltown.
If you dont want to cook while on holiday Mrs Barr, The Sheiling's owner, provides an information book featuring recommended places to eat and places worth visiting. Details of craft fairs, Farmers market dates and local craftsmen / women will hopefully add to the enjoyment of your stay and emergency Numbers are also included in the information pack.
Location
Overlooking the world famous Machrihanish Golf Course, The Sheiling Holiday Cottage is only a five minute walk from the 'Best 1st Tee in the World of Golf' and miles upon miles of white sandy beaches.
Leisure
The famous Machrihanish Golf Course is one of the finest and most popular 'links style' golf courses in Scotland. The newly opened Machrihanish Dunes is the first links golf course to be built in over 100 years and is the only golf course to be built on a site of special scientific interest. Only a 15 minute drive away, the Machrihanish Dunes Course is built on land owned by Mr Barr's farm - so stay at The Sheiling for all of the up to date information for golfing visitors to this area!
If you are visiting this part of Argyll and aren't a golfing enthusiast, there is plenty to see and do. The ferry trip from nearby Kennacraig to Gigha or Islay is quite a short one so a good day's walking or exploring can be enjoyed on the Isles before it is time to return.
The Kintyre Trail is a favourite with walkers and hikers, or horse riding is available at the local stables. Alternatively, go surfing, fishing or sailing - all available within a short drive of Machrihanish.
Prices
Prices £300 - £600 per week plus electricity. Typically Saturday to Saturday, but short breaks are also sometimes available. All enquiries for what ever lenghth of stay are welcome as the owners of the property are as flexible as possible.
Winter Breaks: November, January, February or March £225 plus electricity. Long weekend £175 plus electricity.
October weeks available at reduced rates
Christmas and New Year weeks - £400 each (Christmas 2009 week and New Year 2009/2010 week both now booked)
The rates above are exclusive of electricity, which is metered [meter reading taken before and after occupancy and charged accordingly]. Bed linen and towels for use in the cottage are provided, but not beach towels.

This is a totally non smoking holiday cottage. 
As well as families, well behaved pets are welcome to stay at The Sheiling Holiday Cottage.
Extra blankets for cold winter nights are kept in the warm airing cupboard.
